Description of the Related Art In recent years, the data traffic has been increased by a great extent due to popularization of the Internet, so that a storage system is requested to have a high throughput with respect to a large amount of data traffic. The data striping makes it possible to decrease a load on the SSD and an access to the HDD, and thus to improve the throughput with respect to the processing of the data stored in the mass storage devices, e.g., the processing of the data I/O and the data copy in the storage system. However, when a fault, such as a power failure or a mechanical failure, occurs in a part of the hard disk drives, the storage system can no longer read data from the hard disk drives. In this case, if data of the data chunks not yet read remains in the hard disk drives (i.e., when the hard disk drives include still unknown data), the storage system has to wait for the data of the data chunks to be read from the mass storage devices, such as the HDDs, and thus has to suffer from a performance deterioration.
